Can you tell me what style soft tail I should enter (i.e. FXST, FXSTI, FXSTC, etc.) or does it matter?

I have a 2003 Vengeance Vendetta my exhaust pipe snapped up near the head where the pipe goes from thin to thick. Can you tell me what type drag pipes are on this bike. I would like to place with the original type pipes so I don’t have to mess with re-jetting the carburetor.

Thanks, i did not even consider that. Well what I did was took some wood and some light body work hammers and tap, tap, tapped it back to less than .002 in the right rear corner, put new gaskets and torqued everything according to the book, that is a lesson learned -don’t run this thing in slow traffic and get it too hot!. i ran it for a while and it showed no leakage, it sure loves to blow fire out that rear pipe when it is cold, it goes away when it gets warm. The 4, 1 inch bolts got snugged very close to torque, there was no way to reach them. OMG don’t get me started on the pushrod tubes using a screwdriver…what a pita. I will buy the tool for next time. I just about got all the leaks stopped, I only have one small one where the oil filter housing bolts on to fix and then I’ll be done for a while.

Thanks, I searched high and low but could not come up with that.

if you have time for another question…My rear cylinder Rocker box started leaking oil in the right rear corner where it connects to the head.
I pulled it off and checked it with a straight edge and it is warped.
Should I have it machined flat again or spend the $200+ for a new one.
Just wondering what is the best route to go.
    Thanks

    Hi,
My bike has the pipes that come back and the tips turn down by the rear wheel.
Does anyone have or know of a place that sells them. I am having a hard time locating new ones.
    Thanks

Jetting is determined by intake and exhaust, how much air gets in and how it flows out. Baffles in the exhaust hold back pressure on the exh. valve giving more lower end torque as you reach the power band. Popping or back fire while backing off throttle is a sign of exhaust leak near the exhaust pipe meets the cylinder head, air is leaking in the pipe and lighting the unburnt gasses, change your exhaust gaskets and torque the pipes at the head before clamping or tightening rear pipe mounts. The best way to rejet is on a dyno with a master tech. Good luck! B)
