Has anyone replaced the gas cap with something totally differant. My problem is the previous owner had chipped the paint around the gas cap fill hole, over time it is getting worse. I thought about using some clear nail polish at the edges of the paint to prevent water from getting underneath. The other thing was to by a gas cap that is so-called flush mounted but has a ridge ring. This ring would cover the edge of the fill hole and in turn cover up the chipped area, hopeing that it would stop the rest of the paint from chipping off. Would I be able to put something like that on, is it a big project?
Any advise would be appriciated.
To use a different cap you’ll have to cut out the bung and weld in a stock HD bung then repaint. Its a fairly big job.
is the raider kneck the same as the 05 banshee? if so, there are several after market that fit and will cover the chips around the kneck. i went with the Kuryakyn two piece since it was slightly large than the original. since mine hit me in the chest i simply stuck a rag in the kneck and rode to the local custom bike shop. several caps later we had a handful to choose from. Anyone know the manufacture of the original? i’d like to replace it eventhough the kuryakyn looks great.
There are three versions of the original HotMatch gas cap. Later 05/06 Banshee’s had a standard HD bung that would take the Kuryakyn and other pseudo flush caps.
