I have a 2003 Raider. While riding all of my lights will cut out. The turn signals and brake lights will work when turned on. A few seconds later the headlight and normal lighting will come on. I am guessing it is a short in the wiring. Any suggestions as where to look.
there are 3 15 amp relay fuses in the ignition cover where your key is. replace them. you can get them at NAPPA auto parts.
My head light used to go out and my running lights and signals would still work. I would pull over and turn off the bike for a few minutes and then turn the key back on and like magic, every thing would work until the next power outage. Good luck, hope this helps. :woohoo:
Thanks for the help. I will try that tomorrow. I would have never thought of that.
Nicks correct. Its heat off the back of the motor could be causing the relays to fail.
However as an 03 your bike also has some of the relays mounted on the rear splash guard.
I have an 04 Raider and there were 2 issues of why my light was going in and out. One time was due to my HID kit, too much vibration, the bulb would constantly blow. talked to the company who designed it and they realized the flaw in that model. they corrected it and replaced my kit with a new revised one. the other issue was that my light would cut out sometimes when I turn my handle bars. I found that the wire was exposed right as it goes into the handlebars and shorting out. a little electrical tape , problem solved.
tks
