In from the email…
Well, I have a bike lined up and it is Beautiful. 2005 Banshee w/742 miles. The only thing I am really concerned about is that it hasn’t been on the road this year. What does sitting in a garage do to that S&S fire breather. I have had several bikes and over the years I have found that the worst thing to do to a bike is let it sit. One reason I looked to you guys is that you obviously know your bikes and you have been with S&S for a while. You would be the one to have seen the possible problems I might be getting in to. The other thing is I can’t find much info about the ’05 Banshee. Are your paint schemes one-off, or do several bikes get the same paint with each production year? Was the 113″ the only power plant you used and where can I get replacement/ upgrade parts if I need them? I guess you can tell I’m a little OCD-ish about this. It all revolves around me being in the Air Force and the known fact that I’ll be moving around every few years. I need to know what I’m getting into.
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 2, 2009 at 5:52 pm #2141First of all everything is four years old. Plugs, Oil, filter, battery etc. So change it all. You might as well do it now because your going to do it.
The gas is a year old so… drain the tank, fill with new fuel. Clean the carb (make sure the fuel hasn’t varnished). You may want to squirt some oil in the plug holes the day before you fire it.
Check all the nuts and bolts. At 750 miles the motor isn’t even broken in. Chances are it never had it 500 mile service.
You’ve done this before so its sounds like your on top of it.
As far as paint goes. All one-off, no paint codes don’t even ask. ๐
95% of the parts can be sourced. A lot from Drag Specialties, others just read the forum or ask. The 5% we had fabricated. Ask me, I ‘ll see what I can do.
Word to the wise. Tighten your gas cap before every ride.

loop-single-reply.phpOctober 3, 2009 at 4:40 am #2145Right on. In fact I kept tightning my battery and last time I saw I worked a hole in the terminal post. I had the star washer between the cable and the post (rather than under the bolt head where it should be). Did I mention I’m my own worst enemy?
How about give that left mirror a little snug too? ๐
