2005 Vendetta 17 Hours, 2 Minutes ago Karma: 0
Stephen
I have a 2005 Vendetta with 6000 miles on it.
Oil is leaking out of the lower crankcase breather pretty heavily. It seems to do it more when I am on the highway in 5th and 6th gear.I have:
1. Changed the oil and filter, making sure to use an EVO filter and leave the oil level 1 to 1 1/2 inch below the top.2. Changed the lower crankcase breather.
3. Installed a longer hose with a half loop in it. Old hose was straighline (almost) from the lower crankcase.
Other than the weeping the bike runs great, and since it is white with tribal graphics, the oil really shows.
Please help, this is driving me nuts!
Thanks,
Please note: although no board code and smiley buttons are shown, they are still usable.loop-single-reply.phpApril 24, 2011 at 10:23 am #25585th & 6th gear? Have the top breathers been altered in any way? Sustained high RPMs on a 113 usually result in heavy blowby out the top breathers resulting in air cleaner drool. If the top breathers have been capped or replaced with those worthless “custom” breathers that reduce the diameter of the breathers you’re gonna force the blowby out the crank vent. Does any oil pool under the bike after it’s been ran?
loop-single-reply.phpApril 24, 2011 at 7:33 pm #2559Can you send me a picture or something on how the top breathers should look? I have not modified them but they could have been previously.
There is some air cleaner drool, and yes it does pool under the bike after it has been ran.
Thanks for your help.

loop-single-reply.phpApril 25, 2011 at 6:21 pm #2564I will send three different replies with 3 different pics.

Have checked all of the oil lines, screen etc. Even took it to a shop to be checked out. The mechanic is convinced it is blow by but I’m not sure. Why would you have blow by only in 4,5 and 6? I can ride in town all day and no weepage but as soon as I get on the highway, here comes the oil.
Any opinion or advise?
loop-single-reply.phpSeptember 12, 2011 at 10:43 pm #2660Take a pic looking down between the air cleaner and the rocker boxes. I can’t tell if your top breather tube is still there.
loop-single-reply.phpSeptember 13, 2011 at 4:25 am #2663Here are the pics. As you can see there are two inlets capped off with rubber caps. One seems to be a vacume. I really appreciate the help

I was looking at the top breather tube connecting the rocker boxes and T-ing into the backing plate of the air cleaner. You may want to make sure the top breather bolts are not clogged. The only other thing i can think of would be the check ball in the oil pump isn’t seating properly. This would allow excess oil to seep into the crankcase. This extra oil would be forced out of the bottom vent/breather when the motor is running.
