I was driving this morning and my rear brake got tighter and tighted until I could no longer move. The pedal was all the way up but would not move at all. I had to relieve pressure from the rear line before I could move the bike. Any ideas what could have caused this?
Thanks
Hempsloop-single-reply.phpJune 28, 2011 at 5:49 am #2605Two things are known to cause this problem. First, if the freeplay adjustment on the brake pedal is adjusted out the rear brake will start to engage. As the brake fluid gets hotter and expands it starts to lock up the brake. Second, some DOT 5 brake fluids cause the plunger o-rings to swell and lock up the brake system. We only ran Maxima DOT 5 fluid. Bel-Rey brake fluid swells the o-rings too much and can lock up master cylinder.
loop-single-reply.phpJune 28, 2011 at 10:04 am #2606June 28, 2011 at 9:55 pm #2607We had a rash of this in 06&07. (I had the same thing happen on my bike.) For a long time Accutronix swore it was just Vengeance… then they quietly issued a service bulletin.
Thanks for the info Jim! 🙂 –S.
loop-single-reply.phpAugust 14, 2011 at 5:43 am #2639happened to me on my 05 raider, rotor got so hot it actually melted the rubber seals in the caliper and caught on fire…… turned out to be a tiny hairline crack in the accutronix master cylinder which would cause air bubbles in the line
loop-single-reply.phpJune 5, 2012 at 10:27 am #2802Completely untrue. Vengeance problems were;
*an arrogant owner
*poor management
*a poorly trainer staff
*complete lack of quality control
There was nothing wrong with Accutronix master cylinders. These are the same master cylinders that they use today. Lets see this so called “service bulletin”. There was no such bulletin from Accutronix. This was a complete lie to cover up their own short comings and poor management. Accutronix is still in business after 28 years, where is Vengeance???loop-single-reply.phpJune 5, 2012 at 11:24 pm #2803Welcome Accutronix! Vengeance is still here supporting the owners of our bikes and we are not looking to pick fights we are just trying to help the people who bought our bikes and your forward controls keep their bikes running safe.
Vengeance spent a lot of money with you and we loved your forward controls. All the items you listed are all resolved… (we are all gone). But the Master Cylinders still lock up… so whats the fix?
loop-single-reply.phpJune 5, 2012 at 11:38 pm #2804Maybe you should check with the manufacture..
By the way, we are all waiting to see this Bulletin???loop-single-reply.phpJune 5, 2012 at 11:48 pm #2805About Accutronix

Accutronix also does business as Troon South Investments LLC .loop-single-reply.phpJune 5, 2012 at 11:54 pm #2806Yes, and this is suppose to mean??
Interesting that Vengeance had the same problems with Pro One controls and PM controls…loop-single-reply.phpJune 6, 2012 at 12:13 am #2807After we found out that the Bel-Rey brake fluid was causing the o-rings to swell causing the master cylinders to stick we switched to Maxima dot 5 fluid at the suggestion of local billet forward control manufacturers that had experienced the same problem with their product. I called and spoke to the owner (at that time) of Accutronix and told him what we had found to be the cause of the master cylinder issues. I was told that a service bulletin or notice of some sort was going to be sent out by Accutronix. We had already switched to a local Southern California manufacturer and were not stocking Accutronix product at that time. We never rec’d a bulliten or notice of the brake fluid issue. We just took Accutrinix at their word that they would have the decency to do the right thing rather than play Russian Roulette with their customers lives. That said, I still like the Accutronix line of products and continue to recommend them.

Troon… I’ll assume you not Accutronix. Please accept my humble apology.>By the way, we are all waiting to see this Bulletin???
I stand corrected. I guess we are all still waiting for the service bulletin too. Funny… Brakes locking up, not funny.>Interesting that Vengeance had the same problems with Pro One controls and PM controls…
Since we didn’t have any trouble with the Pro-One and NEVER used PM controls I’ll just assume you are trying to deflect from the problems facing the owners of Accutronix forward controls. And if you are Troon and you are from Accutronix how about a fix for the rear brake lockup issue or at least tell us why it happens? To claim it dosn’t happen is silly.
