Hi Steve: New problem just started on my 2005 Warrior. When I turn on the ignition switch the guages light up like normal, however after 5 to 8 seconds the display fades out to blank. This happens whether the bike is running or not. The battery is approx. 2 years old and was charged to a reading of 12.6 volts. The bike has been in storage for 4 to 5 months. Could a shorted battery cause this?
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Bruce
You’ll need to do a load test on the battery to determine if you have a bad cell.
Thanks for the input. Did a load test and charged battery, everything turns out 100% Any thoughts?
Thanks, Bruce
Since the battery tests fine and assuming the rest of the electrical works fine, I’d say the speedo needs to be replaced.
yep. Call Dakota digital ask them if they can test/rebuild/replace.
Update. I contacted Dakota and they walked me through how to test the guage unit. Turns out there was a bad circuit breaker in the power section of the guage, caused by my battery charger and leaving it hooked up while I started the bike, power spike. I took the unit off and sent it to Dakota for repairs. Great company to do business with.
Only charged me $50.00 bucks to repair and send back.
Took 1 week. Thanks for all the input.
