I’ve got my second Hotch cap, and am curious if anyone knows about a regular vented cap that will fit this bung? Checked Matt’s site and found a cap that looks like mine with bung for $87.?
Just want to have an extra that doesn’t run $295.
Haven’t kissed another cap goodbye since keeping the neck of the cap lubed with Vaseline…and my index finger is always smooth. Gr8 bonus.!
Let me know if you get one and if it works. We built a handful of early 03 with the Hotmatch cap. When Metal Monsters (Trent) started making them the thread pitch was changed and the Hotmatch won’t work. I have 3 different “Trent” caps that I’ve had made for people.
Thanks for the info Stephen. I’ll post anything that I might find that works. On the flip, are there any Hotmatch caps left if I go that route for a standby?
By the way, you were on the money about the 6 speed. The rpm-mph range is excellent, and virtually eliminates the dread vibration factor.
gas caps !!! did someone say gas caps, lol. i think stephen and myself although have never met have become good friends due to the amount of e-mail and packages sent back and forth to each other about gas caps. 🙂
LOL….I’ve watched and read your gas cap thread dougie, and I hope you got your’s resolved, sounds like you did. As for me, it’s not critical, it’s just about having a stand-by, so I’ll be doing some looking and talk to the machine man about a possible build?
Stephen impresses me as a stand-up dude, and I hope to swill some scotch and smoke a fine cigar with him next June.
