I lost a cap early on…my wrench buddy told me that keeping the neck lubed with Vaseline would do it. And, it has.
Good luckloop-single-reply.phpOctober 7, 2009 at 4:23 am #2151stephen the post office tried to deliver the gas caps at 11:47 monday morning, they left notice to pick them up at the post office, i just want to make sure you pick them up so you can get the correct one to me a.s.a.p, definitely running out of riding days here in the northeast. snows just around the corner 🙁 thanks
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 7, 2009 at 6:02 pm #2152October 8, 2009 at 4:20 pm #2158Got it and matched it to the #2 style cap. I’ll ship the new one to you today.
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 9, 2009 at 8:19 am #2160October 10, 2009 at 7:05 pm #2161got the cap today, as soon as I opened it I knew it was WRONG  the threads are wrong and the whole cap itself is smaller than the original and even the one you sent me 2 weeks ago in width and height. so even if it did thread in their would be a decent sized gap around the top of the cap and the tank, “un-acceptable,” the cap I just returned to you was the right height and diameter just the wrong threads. I dont even get an 1/8th of a turn out of this one before it stops……. needless to say this cap is getting returned today and my riding season is over till april, and if you run into trent feel free to give him a kick in the ass for causing these problems amongst YOU and YOUR CUSTOMERS by using a variation of gas caps that cant be matched or easily replaced, I have seen other posts in the forum about faulty caps popping out while riding and having to be drilled out so I know i’m not alone here. and its not my tank because the original threaded piece i sent back this last time with the other wrong cap fit perfect. as i’m sure you can tell by my message my mood about this whols thing is rapidly deteoriating…… so now what ?
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 11, 2009 at 2:46 am #2162So far I’ve found four styles of flush caps Vengeance used. I’ve had 3 made (the fourth is the Hotmatch cap). Ship that one back, I have one other style of cap and I will ship it to you.
Since you got one before the 3rd one must be right. (It has the larger top also.) I wish there was an easy way to tell which one is which but they all look alike. Also I have a sample bung here we pulled out of a wrecked tank. Your base, fits the bung, the cap you have now fits the bung, the 3rd style fits the bung, but… there is a difference between the one you have now and the one I’m shipping. So hopefully this is the correct cap.
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 11, 2009 at 7:23 pm #2163that makes 2 of us  you should have the cap back tuesday, the last cap i sent back was the right diameter at the top and it was a litter larger than the one i received yesterday
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 14, 2009 at 1:03 am #2165when you send me the new gas cap, can you return the original base i sent you, i have a feeling that will be needed again in the future and i dont want it to get lost unless you need it for measurements or thread pitch etc etc thanks 🙂
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 14, 2009 at 5:17 pm #2166October 16, 2009 at 7:03 am #2167post office tried to deliver the cap to you today, said they left a notice for you to pick it up 🙂
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 21, 2009 at 2:09 am #2172October 21, 2009 at 4:41 am #2173Shipped cap #3 and the base Monday. (Fingers crossed.) –S.
loop-single-reply.phpOctober 22, 2009 at 1:40 am #2174got the cap today, :woohoo: threads perfect, diameter perfect, get 4 full turns out of it 🙂 but when all the way threaded in the top still sits about 1/4 of an inch above flush, i will send a couple pics, but i dont see why my local machine shop cant mill 1/4 inch off the top B)
