Well I got the bike home and life was great. This morning i went for a ride and 10 minutes into it the front brakes locked up tight in the left lane…that sucked, never had that happen before on any bike. So AAA towed it home. 30 minutes later the brakes released. I then bled the brakes and took it for a put in the neughborhood and 10 minutes of 25mph,,never touching the front brake and they came on and locked up tight. I took the calipers off and rode home. Whats weird is the shop rode it for 30 miles yesterday, and i rode it 22 miles home in stop and go traffic using both brakes andhad no problems. Any ideas or instruction is appreciated.
Thanksloop-single-reply.phpJune 11, 2015 at 9:20 am #3290Check the plunger in the front master cylinder. Sounds like the o-ring or plunger cover are binding. If the sight glass is on the master cylinder reservoir instead of the cap I’d say you need a rebuild kit for the plunger. Also check if there is DOT 5 brake fluid. Should be purple.
loop-single-reply.phpJune 11, 2015 at 10:30 am #3291Thanks, the sight guage is on the resivour, the fluid is purple and when i bled the sys i also used dot5. Where do i get the rebuild kit?
Thanksloop-single-reply.phpJune 11, 2015 at 10:43 am #3292The handlebar controls on your bike were from Drag Specialties. They were their house brand controls made in Taiwan. The plunger parts were a mix of HD knock off parts from different applications. I’ll find the part number of the kit we used to use. In the future you may want to go with the newer style controls that are direct copy of the HD controls. That way you can use the HD rebuild kit.
loop-single-reply.phpJune 12, 2015 at 12:58 am #3293Thanks for the Info, I contacted the place I bought it from and the lead wrench said they will take care of it if i can get the bike to them since it is a safety issue and less than 30 days since purchase.
i hope they just change the whole assy out for a new one. But at least I have the tools and know what to do if it ever happens out on the road in the desert 40 miles from the nearest town! :blink:loop-single-reply.phpJune 26, 2015 at 11:43 am #3298Well I finally got the bike back from the shop and the brake system has been completely gone through and repaired…Yea it works good 😆
I ride around for a little bit to just to get a feel of the bikes handling, I need to practice my right hand turns but my left hand turns are fine I can drag the stand without difficulty B)
Well I get home, I adjust the clutch cable length cause the turnbuckle was loose spinning…not to tight though, and left plenty of free play at the handle. Then I went to start it… a bad sound happens  then all I get is the starter spinning and the solenoid never engaging :pinch:
So Saturday I’ll open up the primary and see if I can determine what is wrong.
I really hope this is a good bike that will hold together for a ride to Vegas from Riverside when I get straightened out what the PO never maintained… :whistle:loop-single-reply.phpJune 28, 2015 at 6:14 am #3299Sounds like the Jack shaft is sticking. Sometimes charging the battery will throw enough juice to get it to pop out. If not you’ll need to pull the primary cover. Its dry so its not messy.
These issues a likely from the time the bike sat in the PO garage. You need to start/ride these bikes. I keep both of mine on trickle chargers whenever they sit because the high-compression motors love to eat batteries.
loop-single-reply.phpJune 28, 2015 at 11:16 am #3301I blew the clutch in the starter, when I pulled the primary I saw the gear was coming out and engaging but not spinning even though I could hear the starter spinning just fine.
i replaced the starter with a New one and it works great now! I also had the battery checked and it is working ok. So I learned a little and it was not too expensive.loop-single-reply.php -
