I went to start it up and all I get is starter turning noise but no engagement to ring gear. I took off the primary cover and I have a belt drive…wow, did not know that. Anyway when i hit the button the starter pinion gear comes out and engages with the gear on the clutch pack and I hear the starter turning…buzzz…but the pinion gear does not turn at all. So i figure I got to remove the starter and replace or rebuild. I disconnected the battery, I disconnected the wires to the starter. I took out the jackshaft bolt, gear…the stuff on that end.
I see one bolt on the front side of the starter. Where is the other bolt located?

    I found it.
This looks like the starter on my raider, is it the same or do you know if it will work?

Thanks, the local custom shop had one and picked it up.
Works good…I hope it lasts a while.
If a kickstart was put on this bike would it be possible to turn over the motor fast enough to start it?
