My horn speedometer and left turn signals do not work. When I use my left turn signal I can hear my ECU click click click click but none of my lights work. The bikes at for 3 years I inherited it did the maintenance to get it back running right before I started it when I started it smoke came the battery melted through one wiring harness and opened up one red wire. It sparked and smoked. Of course we taped what I had to retype and everything that was exposed. I want to know what I have to do to get this bike running back to how it looked off the showroom floor. These are awesome amazing bikes and I have a very big love for. These are beautiful bikes and want nothing more than it to look just like it did the first time she hit pavement!!! Someone please help me.
You most likely have a ground short either in the handlebar controls (this is the most common culprit) or inside the headlight (that’s where all of the handlebar wiring is joined before it passes down the backbone.) If those two locations don’t reveal the culprit, you’ll need to chase the ground short which is a slow and tedious process. Anywhere there is exposed wiring could be the location.
Maybe one of the guys on the forum can share their technique for chasing ground shorts. I’ve always had to take my vehicles to an old-school auto electrician as my electrical troubleshooting technique is hunt and peck.
