My speedometer stopped working while I was cruising, it stayed at 0 for a while then it would show numbers (not the correct speed though) now it just stays at 00. I pulled the sensor out to see if there were any shavings on it there were none but it looks like the gear was rubbing it a little. Is that normal for the sensor? Any other ideas? Whats the easiest way to get to the connector if I replace it? Looks like the wire goes behind the oil tank assuming thats where the connector is.
Next pull that back of the speedo carefully push the connector back onto the fingers and see if it wakes up. If yes put a piece of foam rubber behind the connector before you put the back plate back on.
Tried what you said, seems connector are hot glued onto the fingers, didn’t see any problem there.
I’d do a continuity check to make sure you dont have any shorts and if everything checks out then call dakota digital and replace the speedo head.
