Hi
I purchased a outer primary and other parts from you a while back and just now installing the outer primary. I pressed the bushing in and then found that the gear on my 03 is bigger than the bushing. Do you have a new gear that would match up with the bushing you sent me in the new primary?
Thanks
Randy
Measured inside of new bushing .768 outside of starter gear is .872 is it possible to just but a matching gear and what make do i need to buy i have a 1.4 spyke starter.
That’s odd, there should have already been a bushing pressed in the outer primary. At any rate, the part from HD is 33446-89.
so is that part number a new bushing or a new gear for starter. I really dont see the other one coming out very easy. but no there wasnt no bushing in outer primary….. Pays to check I KNOW<<< I KNOW
dont think that bushing will come out easy think i rather spend the money for a different gear that fits
If the starter in your bike is the original style starter it is an 89-93 FXST application with a 1/4-20 jackshaft bolt. The smaller jackshaft gear you’re referring to won’t work with your jackshaft unless you have a 10/32 bolt. If you have a 10/32 bolt then the starter and jackshaft have been replaced at some point and the outer primary won’t work. It’s not too hard to remove the bushing.
no it has the org starter 1.4 and the bushing was hard to press in so the chance of it coming out with out damage to primary is slim.
the starter is the org spyke starter 1.4 have had it rebuild every two years
