One note on that The Rivera Primo sells a great clutch package for that change your spring to the silver one. You may not even need a different clutch maybe just a new spring plate and adjusted right. But the draw back on that is big back tire alot of horses and connected with a belt drive on outer and inner. I have broken both belts at different times and they cost alot even if you do the work yourself. hell I went back and backed my adjustment off a little where it will slip if I get stupid
loop-single-reply.phpNovember 7, 2008 at 7:25 pm #1702Thanks for the input rkennedy. Since the post, I got Jeff, the main wrench from the shop, to make a house call. Like you and Stephen and others, he cautioned about belt breakin torque. Jeff says hes seen this before, and just by adding an additional plate, was able to get the Skull Sled operating in an enjoyable fashion. Now, the only slippage I experience is if I get crazy and wick it a little harder than necessary. Will probably add the new spring and clutch pkg this Winter.
P.S. For those with gas cap problems on the Hotch or other version, just keep the rubber threads lubed with Vaseline…no probs since. May need to apply the love lube once a week or so…but the cap will stay.loop-single-reply.phpApril 7, 2009 at 6:48 am #1703I have an 04 Raider and my clutch is sooooooo hard, then again I am comparing it to my other bike (Honda VFR 98) which I can pull with 2 fingers. Is this normal? I opened up the plate and it does not have the circle of springs that I am a custom of seeing. Is there a way to adjust? Is it suppose to be rather hard due to the engine size, so it wont slip? Should I spray cable lube?
Any help would be appriciated.
tksloop-single-reply.phpApril 7, 2009 at 7:42 am #1704Hey fellow Raider Rider……when ALS slapped its slimey grip on my little brother a year and a half ago…I set his Harley up with a clutch assist set-up on his grip and lever…..lightened the grip a good bit, and he got a couple more months in the breeze. J & P has them, and Im sure there are others. If your clutch is tight and right, (no slipping) I suggest that you not try to adjust until you hear from somebody that has a clue, here, or through your own research….there are wrench heads out there that are on the page….gotta loveem.
Good luck and happy trails. 😀loop-single-reply.php -
