I’ve been down that road. That was the first sign my ignition modular wa s going out. I checked evrything. Batteries, wiring all that stuff. Sometimes it would drag etc. I changed the ignition modular and my bike is back to great. It’s sucks so bad that there is really no good way to find out if its going bad. See if any of this is your indicators. First thing my starter started dragging the battery down. Then as it got worst it would seem to feel right when you got on it. The after about 35 minutes of riding it starts to shutdown. After you let it sit and cool off it will start and run great and the it will shutdown again. I finally sent my ignition made back to S&S motors. They sent it to Crane who bench tested it. Crane sent me a new one for free. I see bikes in having complete rewire over this. I spent 6 months trouble shooting.

I finally got mine fixed. The hangouts around here need help. They just want to rewire for $2000.00. Crane tested and sent me a new in the bag iginition modular. Theres no way to check it on the bike. It heats up and shuts down. Once the bike cools down it will start and run until it heats up. I’ve got to tel ya the guy at S&S made this all happen. I called him and he told me to send to Crane for testing. That tells me they have had plenty of trouble with this unit. Glad to be back on the road. The headjanitor knows what he talking about. The breakers are the easy to check. The wiring prints are good to go. Thanks.

Changed out breakers as suggested. Runs really well until it quits. No change. 30 minutes of running and its done. Wait 15 minutes and ride another 30 minutes. Changed coil this time too. Untaped wires I could get to without trearing down complete bike. All looked good. I’m thinking this is going to be a big deal. Like rewiring the computer. It’s been the norn with the Big Dogs and other customs. The control box starts at 400 if you can find one for the brand. Anyone have any ideas???????????? Thanks. By the way. Still a great bike and I love riding it. I’m just ready to ride. Wrenching is ok but riding is so much fun.

My bike is doing pretty much the same thing. I can ride 10 miles and it shuts off like its running out of gas. I checked for vapor lock and vent lines and the gas tank for rust etc. I can wait 20 min. and it runs another 10 miles. Changed coil. Tuned carbs. New battery. Needed one anyway. 4 years old. Have no idea whats going on. Bike shop wants to keep changing parts. ???????????????
