There are 5 small fuses on the turn signal module (Smart Flash). Check the 5 amp fuses. Also check your brake light switches. the small one in the hand control sometimes moves slightly out of place and sticks. The rear hydraulic switch should have the flag connecters cleaned and checked to make sure they are tight when reconnected.

I’ve seen those turn signal sockets short out and cause havoc to the turn signal module. The socket will look fine but will be shorted internally. Swap out the turn signal and add dielectric grease to the socket before installing the bulb. Also, before replacing the turn signal pull the T/S module and check the micro fuses.

From what I’m told the 1157 & 2057 bulbs are a direct swap, have the same number of contacts and filaments……not counting an aftermarket LED bulb which may have been produced/labeled improperly.
From my information the 2057 has a slightly brighter brake illumination.

Turn signals are from Chris Products. They are not rebuildable. You can have any shop with a Drag Specialties account order them.

What’s the eye to eye measurement of your shocks when they are off the bike?

Any brand of shocks for an 89-99 Softtail will work. If you have trouble finding some I can get the replacements for $150+freight. They come in standard and heavy duty (300lbs+).

Hey Gary, I picked up one of the upgraded diaphragm plates. If you’re still interested it sells for $25. I can send it via USPS Flat Rate for $6.

When you replace or check your pressure plate you may want to pull out the friction and steel clutch plates and inspect the splines on the inside of the hub. As they wear you’ll start to get grooves in the splines from the friction plates. If yours is like this it causes the plates to stick and not release smoothly.

You need the silver pressure plate instead of the black one. Also, the Primo Rivera pressure plate doesn’t work as well as the other version on the market. No press required just a couple of hand tools. I’ll have to see if the other pressure plates are still available. If not you can get one from Primo Rivera. Last time I picked one up it was about $25.

I went to the Drag Dealer site to look them up. They are all valid current part numbers and in stock at all the Parts Unlimited warehouse. I can order them for you but would have to charge you $6 to mail them. Your local HD shop can order them also.

The tanks were made by Metal Monsters who closed down around 07. I have one of those tanks left but you may need to relocate the mounts. Give me a text or call at 949-375-9506 if you’re interested.

Any HD shop can order it for you from the Drag Specialties 2014 Fat Book. Should be around page 876.

Is the bike all stock as it was when it left the factory or have the lights been upgraded or switched to LED’s or has the harness been spliced into anywhere? Has there been an alarm added? Also, has there been any recent repairs done to the bike?

Check your brake switch wire in the handlebars and the hot wire going to the hydraulic brake switch. Sounds like you’ve got a wire that’s grounded somewhere. Have you tested the hydraulic switch to see if it’s bad? Also, check all your turn signal sockets for corrosion or burned/melted spots. Sometimes they overheat and short out causing the running light circuit to back feed into the brake circuit. Kinda hard to diagnose without having the bike in front of me.
