Thanks for the heads up!!!!!!
Well the chrome ignition/key switch is nore accessable than the plastic “black box” mounted on the fender splash behind the starter……..but the solenoid relay wire does dissappear into the “black box”
I will just start following the wire until the relay or the short is found is found.
Headjanitor,
What do you think???????

loop-single-reply.phpHave tested the starter…jumped from the solenoid relay tab on the solenoid to the pos battery terminal…..turns over just fine.
Is the wiring box you are referring to the box attached to the rear fender guard? It looks like the solenoid relay wire disappears into that box. It also looks like it is a big hassle just to get to it.I was hoping that it was one of the buttons on the handlebar (Run/Stop) or the (Starter Button) next to it.
Have not had a chance to go any further than jumping as described above.
Thankyou for the heads up….I’ll let you know when I get it going.
loop-single-reply.phpHeadjanitor,

loop-single-reply.phpHeadjanitor,
Thanks for the quick reply……I have one more check to make, jumping the starter with remote button….will let you know the results….if it works as jumped….the problem is somewhere in the wiring, Buttons, ignition switch etc…
I am away from home at this time and will not be there for another few days…………..
Will get back to you on the particulars of the rebuild you relate to, if the starter will not jump……Hoping it is the starter and not the aforementioned electrical scenereo!

loop-single-reply.phpThanks again Headjanitor…………big difference 65 compared to 110.
Actually considering the size of the bolt…..15/16 the 110 ft lbs makes a lot more sense…..When I originally removed the pivot bolt it took a 25″ breaker bar with a 1′ extension to crack it loose……sometimes RED really sucks!
Since I believe that RED Loc Tite was originally used for assembly, I will chase the threads of the bolt and pivot tube before reassembly…..I am going to also remove the other side bolt and evenly set the torque.
I WILL USE YOUR REVISED NUMBER, 110 FT LBS….WITH ANTISEIZE, NOT LOC TITE!
loop-single-reply.phpThank you for the quick response!!!!! was getting info online 90 – 110 ft lbs, and also from Vance and hines site for stock softail to be 120 – 150 ft lbs…..both with red Loc Tite……
When I took the Banshee apart there was a great deal of red on the fine threads…….I will start with your recommendation of 65 ‘lbs and go with the anti seize…..will be easy to monitor any bolt movement.
Thank you again!!!!
