Interesting, thanks for the info. When I reconfigured my wiring harness I quickly realized the many complications to do so and with any custom motorcycle they can all be different depending on the buyer and their accessories. It’s like you need a supplemental wiring diagram for every add on. This is really noticeable with big bikes like the Honda Gold wing that can be a real wiring night mare.
My research led me down a road of confusion and noticed that only big motorcycle manufacturers had a set wiring diagram that was anywhere correct and even some of those aren’t. I’m not complaining just noticing the lack of a serious professional approach to the subject. Plus on top of it all there is a serious lack of some of the colors of wires available and an endless amount of connections available. It’s enough to make your head spin. After a while I started considering going into business making custom order harnesses myself which are still available but very high priced and I can see why now.
My research led me down a wire investigation road that was pretty interesting. I met with owners of companies who supplied special wire that would have hundreds of different colors and sizes and different metals all in 1 cable. Even some of those owners admitted that they too had clients searching for specific colors that were unavailable so they would cut sections of these commercial cables and dismantle them just to get a specific color of wire. I ran into this problem with some of the colors on my Raider. So it seems that not all wire colors are always available or have to be custom manufactured and that would cost a pretty penny.
I come from a heavy electrical family, my father was one of the men who helped invent and introduce and implement the Norad Radar System. He had received tons of Presidential awards for his achievements. I was really proud of him. My uncle, my dads younger brother went on to be one of the head engineers at North American Rockwell and Douglas Aircraft. I keep twisting his arm on UFO info and when are they going to disclose that they have been making anti-gravity craft for a long time but he just smiles at me and doesn’t say a word. lol I just wish I was 1/2 as intelligent as either of these 2 guys were.
But with custom motorcycles and wiring harnesses it all seems to boil down to when you have a problem just trace it down and isolate it to fix it.
Thanksloop-single-reply.phpUPDATE ON WIRING DIAGRAM,
Most of the diagram is correct but what isn’t has to be traced by individual component to single out just what is going on. I found this to be the easiest way to configure the wiring.loop-single-reply.phpThanks for the info ๐ I’m gonna contact them this week and try to get more info. I love that chromed out tail section with the chrome independent suspension, that is HOT. I’ll try to keep everyone posted if I get it.
Fingers Crossed ๐
PS: Lucky Chad ๐loop-single-reply.phpYou’ll really like the sound of the Big Guns and how they give a deep power sound that is distinct to the Vengeance motor. I love firing up my machine when I’m a some place with all the HD’s around and everyone turns their head to look with that WTF is that look ๐ lol
loop-single-reply.phpThe pipes on my Raider are the Longer Big Guns. I don’t know if they came with the bike but I’ve seen other Vengeance bikes with the same pipes so I’m assuming they did. You can see them in the Owners Gallery images almost all the way at the bottom since they are probably the newest images posted plus they show off my LED lights ๐ Ride On ๐
loop-single-reply.phpSomething you might check out is the samsonusa.com web site. I highly recommend you look at some of the B-Stock stuff they have 4 sale. Here’s a link
https://www.samsonusa.com/shop/b-stock-big-guns-short-cut-s-176x-b2/
These are similar to the pipes on my 03 Raider but I have the Samson Big Guns longer pipes. But some of their B-stock can start off at only $149.00 on a set of $749.00 pipes. I LOVE the sound of mine. I don’t know if it is because they are longer or what but when I roll into any MC place it always seems like my pipes are louder and lower in tone than everyone elses. OK, I’m bragging just a little ๐ but check them out in the catalog section.
loop-single-reply.phpThank you so much. I am the 2nd owner and I was wondering if the original owner had replaced the oil cap. Nice info to know.
Thanks againloop-single-reply.phpGood Deal
HAPPY DAYS ๐ Man I know about electrical and it being a real pain in the A&#.
Glad you got it running.
Time to Ride
Johnloop-single-reply.phpI have a 1988 Yamaha TW200 that recently had the same problem. I did everything in the book. Replaced everything possible, plug, coil, relays etc.
After 4 months of no success and ready to sell the bike for parts 1 night I had an idea. I had replaced the sprockets a while back and had to take off the left side motor cover to replace the sprocket. This is also where the electric generator for the bike was. Sure enough I had crimped a wire when I put the case back on. Fixed it and it fired back up. OHHHHHHHHHHH, I was pissed after I spent all that time, money & effort and replaced all those parts.
A non running bike can be a real headache but hang in there. You WILL find the problem and most of the time since our bikes aren’t that old it will be a simple solution, like a loose wire or something.
So after checking the coil double check ALL the wire fittings REAL CLOSE. I had 1 bike that a wire had come loose at the Starter Relay. Fixed that and it fired right up ๐loop-single-reply.phpThe primary wiring connection was the flash unit that they had mounted inside the rear wheel fender. This was a major pain in the butt to get too so I moved it into the battery compartment. This took me almost 10 months but I wasn’t in any hurry. I found out that some of the wires they had connected weren’t doing anything and others were not routed properly. After research and tracing the wires to their primary connection I was able to get it all back together. I know I posted that I would try to put up a new diagram but I don’t think I’m going to be able too as I would have to retrace all the wires again. It’s not as difficult as I thought.

I have a 2003 Raider & and 1988 Yamaha TW200.
Recently I put this light in my Yamaha and it is AWESOME
There is NO comparison on the brightness scale from the factory
to this one. I LOVE IT
So, I’m gonna check to see if I can mount this on my Raider.
The only draw back I can think of is I might have to drill some air holes into the bottom of the casing so it can breath. These lights do get kind off hot. They come with a tiny fan on the back of the light.
The price is AWESOME $12.99.
I will post what happens. :unsure:loop-single-reply.phpI hope your gave them some choice words on that trade in.
The motor on that motorcycle is worth more than the 4G they offered you.
BTW, great move on the starter ๐loop-single-reply.phpIf you’ll send me an email to BigBadWulf@live.com I’ll send you what I’ve got. Put in the Header “Vengeance wiring diagram request”
