Vengeance Motorcycles introduced the new Hotrod Drifter to rave reviews at the Laughlin River Run April 26-29, 2006 in Laughlin, NV. The Drifter is a blend of an old-school cruiser and a modern muscle bike. The design of the bike features 2″ stretch in the back bone with stock down tubes. With 38 degrees in the next and a -3 degree rake, the Drifter is based on a design trend that is being seen all over California. The Drifter features a traditional Lasalle front end with a stretched gas tank and tail-dragger fender. Where the Drifter differs from it predecessors is in its 113ci engine, right side drive 6-speed transmission and 250 rear tire. These changes blend the traditional cruiser styling with a modern drive train creating the perfect blend of new and old.
Stephen Sharpe President of Vengeance Motorcycles said “We’re seeing a new trend in California, the tail-dragger cruiser with big ape hangers. This styling is having a serious comeback. We are seeing the customers is breaking into distinct design styles. Don’t get me wrong, custom riders are still buying Choppers, but a couple of years ago we introduced the Teacher when we saw the Bobbers making their comeback, then we introduced our Whiplash when the Pro-Street craze took hold, last season it was all long and low. Now the long fendered cruiser with spoke wheels is all the rage.
The key is to mix the retro styling with a modern power plant and transmission. Take a look at the new ’09 Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro these cars have answered the challenge that the ’06 Ford Mustang laid down. At first glance these cars evoke traditional muscle car styling but modern drive trains make these cars far better than their ancestors. We’ve attempted to do the same thing here with our Hotrod Drifter and our soon-to-be-introduced Hotrod Cal-Chop.”
Each new Drifter includes the new Vengeance Marathon 1-year Warranty with an optional 2-year warranty available as an upgrade. Contact your local Vengeance dealer to get more information on the new line-up of Vengeance bikes.
