Vengeance Motorcycles staff took a Friday afternoon off and joined up with our friends from the Pechanga Resort & Casino to go for a ride and visit a few of the premier wineries in the Temecula Valley. Few people are aware of the rich history of winemaking in Southern California, but over 200 years ago, winemaking made its debut in California at Mission San Juan Capistrano. The first winemakers were the mission padres. The tradition of winemaking still exists only 18 miles east of San Juan Capistrano in Temecula, where mission vineyards were established in 1820.
The staff from Pechanga were great hosts and we found out that there are many riders on the Pechanga Tribal Council Joining us for the ride was actor Dan Haggerty. Dan who is most well know for his role on television as Grizzly Adams is a high-profile figure at many charity rides all over the US. Dan’s love of motorcycles goes way back. Dan was one of the original cast members of the movie Easy Rider. At the time Dan was working with the team that created the original “Capitan America” and “Billy” bikes for the movie so Dan was on the set as the bike wrangler. You’ll see Dan in the “New Mexico” sequence (shot in MAlibu, CA) as one of the commune members.
Overall the day was perfect for riding and we enjoyed lunch at the Wilson Creek Winery. Several of the riders were thrilled that we had a chase vehicle and trailer… no bikes broke down, but several cases of wine and champagne were transported back to the casino in the trailer. The day ended up with everybody gathering for a VIP party at “Silk” the Pechanga Resort & Casino nightclub.
