@white just so you are aware. I have an 06 maxis. The part # i provided above had to be tightened to a very stiff ride, and the adjustable rods shortened down to the max, because i have a 300mm rear tire (metzger marathon 888) and i was hitting on the inside of the rear fender. Maybe i could have shimmed the fender up a little, but i just messed with ahock adjustments until i was able to get enough clearance with my wife on the back.

bike shutting off…. Check the fuses, and thier connections. Trace the wires… The stainless steel box is metal, i personally have tons of wires crammed in there very tight, and connector butts sometimes have strands of wire that can pop out and connect with the metal causing a short. Insulate the wires very good. Maybe wrap the interior of the box with a thing rubber or other insulation. Also check for similar issues with the wire harnesses under the gas tank as well as at the battery under the seat.

Seperately, check the connection to the starter motor. I have a positive terminal with a nut, but the negative/ground wire is connected with a blade connection, and mine was either pulled or vibrated loose. I pinched the blade and shoved it back on the terminal and all is good… now this starter motor connection was for starting the bike, i doubt this would shut the bike off…. Electrical is a pain… especially for non-electrical savvy fools like myself.

Speedometer display issue….My dakota speedo went out too… the LCD screen was blinking like crazy until went all black. The other day i ripped open the throttle and saw a glimpse of the LCD screen look the matrix again. My assumption is a poor connection…somewhere, probably between the frame and gas tank..but hopefully right into the LCD  diplay unit itself – but I have not figured this out….yet.

What about dual front rotors? And the mounting plate(s) that holds the caliper to the lower fork legs?

i gotta a stripped upper screw hole on the primary front lower leg. 1/4-20 x 3/4” flat head allen screw wont stay.. i am running a zip tie to hold my damn mounting bracket from vibrating. Damaged the left front rotor when i lost the screw..

@white -The shocks I ordered came from Mid-USA motorcycle parts and the part number is 29096. They are adjustable shocks which will allow you to change the stance up to 1-1/2″ lower, up to an 1/2″ higher. To tighten pre-load, the shock canister gets rotated counter clockwise & to reduce preload rotate the shock canister clockwise. There is a weird dual pronged wrench I got off Amazon Prime for $13 for the shock canisters, but I had to grind it the wrench prongs thinner to get them to fully fit the canister holes)

The shocks I removed, have what I assume is a part # on them which reads 55001-002c. And under that it reads 10/04, so maybe they were manufactured in OCT 2004 – but I don’t know that for sure. I am also not the first owner of the bike, so I cannot even say they are the “off the line” product that was originally installed.

Where are you located white, so we can ride. Did you see my reply with shock #, in the other thread “shock bushings”? Im scheduled to meet mechanic and install shocks and heads & rockers today, so hopefully our schedule does get curbed.

I dont know specs, and my bike is not in my garage, but i would imagine they are all pretty standard and between the 3 bikes you have, there is some sort of consistency. If the existing battery doesnt seat well in the compartment, maybe you can get some rubber wedges. As far as positive terminal orientation, i would look at your existing wiring configuration and make sure it will reach. Hopefully thats helpful if you already have not figured it out.

actually, just found out the 2” skinnier diameter shocks leak easier than the wide body, so we stayed with the bigger diameter style shocks. $120 a pair!

no love on original shock info? 06 maxis?

also, trying to find correct kickstand spring size. I have tried 3 (4”-4-1/4”-if i remember correctly) and they keep snapping at the hook, and i gotta catch the kickstand and hold in place with my heel till i canpull over and tie it up in place and try again 🤦‍♂️

Another guy i just spoke with said if it is shutting down after it warms up, it generally is a sign that the ignition coil is going bad. The Previous owner explained the current ignition coil is roughly 4 years old with maybe 1,000 miles. – think im going to start here..
